Clandeblog Supporting the work of Storehouse North Down this Christmas
For three years running, we’ve proudly supported Storehouse North Down in their efforts to combat food poverty through our 3 Ways to Give gift voucher campaign.
This year is even more important as the charity anticipates an increased need for their services with the ongoing cost of living crisis. At the start of the year, Storehouse North Down was providing 30-40 hampers per week. This has now increased to between 40-50 per week as Winter approaches.
The work of Storehouse North Down
Storehouse North Down is an independent charity that supports those in need in the North Down area and beyond. They do so through generous donations of food and other essential products from the community. Hampers include a week’s worth of groceries including fresh vegetables and meat from local butchers.
For many families, the Christmas season is a time of financial stress. With presents to buy and meals to prepare, it can be difficult for some to stretch the budget to cover everything. This year, Storehouse North Down is helping to ease the burden by providing around 400 hampers in the lead-up to Christmas, as well as fulfilling their usual requests.
What you can do to help
Storehouse North Down relies on donations from the public, so if you're looking for a way to give back this holiday season, consider directly donating to Storehouse North Down. Your contribution will help make someone's Christmas a little brighter.
What is most needed:
- Tins of chunky chicken, minced steak, stewed steak
- Tinned meals such as chicken curry and chilli con carne
- Tins of cold meat
- Packets of instant noodles
- Coffee
- Custard
- Long life milk
- Men’s toiletries including disposable razors
- Cleaning products
- Christmas treats with long shelf-life such as mince pies, Christmas puddings, biscuits, cranberry sauce, and selection boxes
If you would like to directly donate any Christmas goods to Storehouse North Down, the cut-off date is Monday 5th December. You can drop off food donations to a number of churches and collection points in the North Down area. Find out more here.
