Ours is a living heritage and we look after this beautiful place with the respect it deserves.
Historic Clandeboye
Clandeboye Lodge adjoins the Clandeboye Estate. Once both part of an historic demesne and now friendly neighbours. Clandeboye Lodge is a community, but it is also part of a community. We love being from a part of the island that is full of hidden gems, the coastal path, Helen’s Bay, Bangor, Donaghadee, the Ards Peninsula and Strangford Lough – so we play our part. Together is a big word here.
Heart and soul
At the heart of Clandeboye Lodge are the arched windows, wide slated roofs and warm red brick of the nineteenth century Ballysallagh schoolhouse. Forty years ago, this was the George, a famous local hostelry – friendly and comfortable. We’ve taken those two badges of hospitality and reimagined the gold standard. You’re welcome!
Today and tomorrow
The hotel and its gardens surround the schoolhouse as if they were always meant for each other. Low rise and nestled in the surrounding woodlands, we are only a few miles from the city but somehow light years away. It's hard to put your finger on it. Some places just create an atmosphere to cherish. Talk, relax, listen, walk, hear the birds, see the light, feel the quiet. The place to be.
